This opera by Richard Strauss is a complex projection of the contemporaryissues involving the creation, patronage and the art market. The conflict ofthe creator who wants to keep his work pure and intact, as opposed to themaecenas, often omnipotent and rude. The main scenario is a spiral rampthat rotates in its axis, switching the perspective of a service area of a richbourgeois home and the main hall of the house, the scene of an opera thattakes place within the opera. The giant chandelier in the house is on theground and alludes to the door of the Ariadne’s cave. There she awaits herlover forever.
