This opera was traditionally presented in the intervals of great operas and took place in front of the scene. The idea that the plot would take place in a kitchen was interesting to reinforce the idea of the servant’s power. The scene was inspired by a kitchen design by Leonardo da Vinci. The fictional piece sand the walls were made of woven bamboo, very typical of the interior of the state of Minas Gerais.
