This love story of a white girl with an Indigenous Brazilian was the first Brazilian opera to achieve worldwide impact, and snippets of its music are, to date, expression of national identity. The first assembly would be in Manaus, at the heart of the rainforest, where indigenous roots are evident in every corner of the city. It was difficult to create a scenario which referred to the indigenous universe without being superficial. The period of great navigations, which refers to the stories of the discovery of Brazil, gave us the idea of sails and maps. We punctuated the stage with wooden masts and sails with old maps painted on it. At each sail hoisted, the scenic space was defined.
